Have a happy and safe NYE

Happy NYE. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable night. Please beware of those driving late at night and don’t make the problem worse. If you drink too much their is normally a nearby hotel (the Residents Inn is walking distance from our brewery) or take a taxi.

Despite the fact that we’re normally closed on Monday, we thought some of you might need a growler fill for NYE festivities. Therefore, the tasting room will be open from 3-8PM today. Just to make it extra special, we’ll have a 5 gallon keg of Salute to the End of the Year Stout pouring in additional to the Apricot Saison (until it kicks). In case you missed it, “Salute” is a smooth, russian imperial stout brewed with malted oats and blackstrap molasses.

Rip Flag IIPA on tap at Sublime Alehouse

We’re happy to say that we’re starting our keg account program (having received our final ABC approvals for labels).  Sublime Alehouse in San Marcos is the first one to tap one of our kegs.  Their owner stopped by for a tasting and decided to buy a keg on the spot (hard to argue with that!).  See the picture for their updated beer list.  We’re excited to have Sublime serving our beer as we’re frequent customers and enjoy their food and beer selections.

End of the World

We really hope tonight isn’t the end of the world, but just in case we’ve made a very special beer.   Salute to the End of the World is a 9.3% Russian Imperial Stout made with two special ingredients.  First we used a good amount of flaked oats to give the beer a full, rich body and silky mouthfeel.  Later we added Blackstrap molasses to provide a layer of dark sugars, dark fruits and some syrup-like sweetness.    After substantial aging, this beer is smooth, rich and very drinkable for such a huge beer.  Please be careful not to have too many as it packs a punch and tomorrow it might feel like the world ended when it didn’t :) .

We plan to put the first 5 gallon keg on at 4PM for opening and the second keg on later in the evening.  Like our other Double Overhead pilot batch beers, this stout will only be available in the tasting room (no growlers).

As usual our hours today are from 4-9PM.

Initial tasting room hours

Hopefully, everyone has seen our recent posts to Facebook and our web site from over the last week about the progress at the tasting room.   We’re excited to now have regular hours for the tasting room.  The following is our regular tasting room hours:
