In case you haven’t heard, our latest big project is to open a tasting room in North Park! We’re very excited to be joining the thriving beer and food culture of North Park and offer a big variety of our beers to those not in North County. Since we opened, the most frequent comment we’ve heard from customers is that we’re just too far away for them to visit often, so we’re opening a place closer to San Diego to help address that issue. The following picture shows our new location at 4101 30th Street (across the street from Ritual Tavern). We leased from corner space plus the unit behind it off of polk. You can look forward to some major changes to the exterior including a new paint color and large roll-up doors on both sides of the corner entrance. This will allow natural breezes to cool the front bar area most of the year.
We started construction a few weeks ago and you can see from the picture below that we’ve made some good progress. The cold room walls were installed this week and you can see the base for the bar counter that will wrap around the 30 ft wide cold room. We plan to have 20 taps pouring including some guest beers. On the side of the cold room will be a large merchandiser offering bottled beer, wine, ciders and meads from many great breweries around the country.
The spiral ducting in the left front is being installed, so we can offer air conditioning during the hot summer months. In the back right corner of the picture, you can see the future walls to the full kitchen that will be run by the great folks from Sublime (Alehouse and Tavern). We look forward to being able to serve you a number of compelling food items including pizza, burgers, salads and some more specialty food items to pair well with your Rip Current beers.
Your probably wondering when we’ll be open. If so, we are too! When you do construction its always tough to provide a good estimate for a completion date. We’re hoping to be open well before the end of the year. If you keep an eye on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/RipCurrentBrewing) we’ll post frequent updates on our progress.
