Rip Current Fourth Anniversary Celebration!

It’s hard to believe that we have been open for four years! In December of 2012, we opened our doors in San Marcos for the first time offering you three different styles of beer. Four years later we routinely pour 20+ different beers, we opened our North Park tasting room, won 2015 Small Brewing Company of the Year, and won Gold Medals for our Breakline Bock two years in a row!
We appreciate your loyalty and eagerness to try the wide variety of styles that we have made over the years. With our fourth anniversary coming up, we are excited to showcase a number of rare gems to share with you to celebrate this occasion!
Stay tuned to our social media feeds for updates on the tap list, but the Special Anniversary Beers will include:

San Diego Beer Week Events at Tasting Room

Earlier today we posted the list of events we are doing for San Diego Beer Week at our accounts.  The following are those events we are having at the tasting room.  It should be a fun week, with new beers (e.g. Barleywine), vintage beers (Vanilla Rescue Buoy) and fun pairings with friends.   We hope you’ll join us to help celebrate craft beer in San Diego!

Our schedule of events are as follows:

11/7: SDBW kickoff with a community kickback event. We are giving back a percentage to a local elementary school. To make this night even more special, we will have our vintage Scotch Oaked Black Lagoon Scottish Strong pouring!  This beer was very popular during Rip Current Awareness week so we hope you enjoy it while it lasts!

11/8: Go big or go Home event night. We are introducing Down the Line Barleywine (11.5%) as a malty cousin to our monster Hop Wine (15.7%). These are great pairings with the incredible BBQ from Aptos St BBQ. Aptos St is a Rip Current customer who operates a small chain of BBQ places in the San Francisco bay area and are coming down for this event.

11/9: Yeah Buoy! We will have a rare return of different variations of Rescue Buoy RIS including batches 1, 2 and 3 plus the Bourbon Oaked and the Vanilla! Many of these are low so its your last chance to try them. Of course we will also be watching the NFL games.

Remember we are closed on Monday and Tuesdays…

11/12: ‘Epic Wednesdays’ with Epic Eatz food truck. We’ll have on a special cask plus our popular San Onofre Saison on the pilot tap. Don’t forget our $2 off growler refill special!

11/13: Date night with Pubcakes. We’ll have beer and cupcake pairing available for purchase plus the last of the Old Man on a Date (Old Ale aged on dates).

11/14: Brats & Brews night. We’ll have the BratShack food vendor with us to pair brats with our selection of German beers including: Fresh San Diego style Hefe, Marine Layer Hefe, Weizenbock and our Halloween beer called Hallowheat.

11/15: Cellar Saturday! We’re going back into the cellar and will be rotating kegs of previous big beers from years gone by including some true gems :) .

11/16: Rise & Shine event. Come watch the NFL games with us and enjoy some Kona Storm (Kona coffee Imperial Porter) and the end of the Coconut Kona Storm.

San Diego Beer Week is Coming…

In case you haven’t heard, San Diego celebrates our incredible craft beer culture all around town next week!  Its called San Diego Beer Week (SDBW) even though its actually 10 days long from Nov 7-16 :) .  More information can be found about events happening all around town at:  We plan to celebrate this amazing week with special beer releases and both events at our tasting room and with some of our accounts around town to reach those not in North County.

Next week, you will be able to try our Hop Wine (15.7% quadruple “San Diego-style” IPA), Kona Storm (Kona-coffee Imperial Porter) and our new 11.5% Down the Line Barleywine.  The Hop Wine is currently available at our tasting room, but it will be pouring at our official events during SDBW with further distribution the following week.  We believe this is the biggest San Diego-style IPA ever made.  Kona Storm is our 10% coffee porter that provides a complex, smooth Kona coffee flavored porter.  Finally, this weekend we will be kegging up our 1st ever Barleywine, so you can look for it at select events late next week.  Of course, we’ll have fresh batches of some of your favorite beers rolling out including Lupulin Lust IPA.  You can look for fresh Lupulin Lust mid next week!

For those around town here is a summary of our SDBW events:

11/7:  Taproom in Pacific Beach (see
