Rip Current 1st Anniversary Weekend

As you hopefully already know, this weekend we are celebrating our 1st anniversary with a big event in the tasting room this weekend.  As a result of the event, the tasting room will be closed on Friday and Saturday.   We hope you plan to join us for the event as we’ll have a number of special beers on tap for your enjoyment.

Information on our event can be found at:  However, you’ll notice the event has been sold out for some time.   We do plan to sell a limited number of tickets at the door, so if you waited before buying your tickets and wish to join us please plan to arrive 30 minutes before the session starts to maximize your chance of purchasing a ticket at the door.

During the event, we will have >20 beers on tap plus our 1st cask beer.  The beer list will include a couple favorites from a year ago, one new beer plus several super fresh batches of some recent brews.  The two headline beers are Old Man’s Old Ale and Caught in a Rip Triple IPA.  We’re releasing a big complex malty beer and a huge hop monster in hopes it will satisfy both your sweet and bitter cravings and we’ll have several beers in between them.  At the conclusion of the event, you’ll receive a take home bottle of a one-off batch we made for the event that has never previously been served.  Its Bourbon, Wood-aged Old Man’s Old Ale.  This beer is designed to be aged for 6-12 months.

On the food side of the event, we’ll have Oscar’s Meat Pie Shack and Mish Mash Gourmet food trucks offering up their incredible food items.  Be sure to eat during the session to help soak up the 10 tasters you’ll be receiving.

On Sunday, the tasting room will be open for walk-in business again and we will be doing our early salute to St Patrick’s day.  We have a special traditional Irish style of beer that will be pouring on nitro all day.  Note that the tasting room will NOT be open on Monday as per our normal schedule.

Hope to see you this weekend…

Rip Current Brewing 1st Anniversary Event

As many of you know, we’re now officially 1 year old (ignoring our “soft opening” period). We wanted to celebrate our first year with you, so it is time to announce our 1st anniversary party details! Please mark your calendar on March 14th and 15th for our event.  The tasting room will be closed for the event on March 14th and 15th.

The event will be run much like last year’s Rip Current Awareness Week event, so we will be selling pre-order tickets on Brown Paper Tickets. Please don’t wait to get your tickets as we sold out well in advance of the party last year, so we’re expecting the same to happen with this event.

We will have three 5-hour sessions, each with a full line-up of beers including some surprise kegs from the distance past and some new favorites. We will announce more on the specific beers in the weeks to come . Your admission will get you ten 5oz tasters of your choice and you will receive a hand bottled, special limited release 22oz beer suitable for aging.

Tasting Room Hours on Super Bowl Sunday

It was a great NFL season and was exciting that the Chargers snuck into and won the wild card game.  This super bowl looks like it could be an amazing game with the top offense meaning the top defense in the league.  With this in mind, we’ve decided to give the staff time off to enjoy the game, so we’ll be on special limited hours this Sunday.  We will open early at 11AM but will close early at 3PM just before kick-off.  Its our hope that these hours will allow you to stop by for a beer and a growler fill before you head to your Super Bowl party (even if that is just on your couch :) .

For those of you considering a growler fill on Sunday, we expect to have a fresh batch of Impact Zone NZ-hopped IPA available for the game and we just kegged what we consider the best batch to date of Palomar Chocolate Porter and Hazardous Hazelnut Porter.   We also have a fresh batch of Marine Layer German Hefeweizen and Black Lagoon Scottish Strong available this weekend as well.
